
LSU Student Government
(2019-2025)
The LSU Student Government at LSU Baton Rouge functions very similarly to the United States Government with the three branches mimicking the Federal level. A. Basse has served in the Legislative Branch, Executive branch, as well as Auxiliary Committees.
A. Basse is currently serving as an Associtate Justice on the University Court. The University Court is the highest court of the judicial branch and hears appeals and issues advisory inquiries on questions of law.
Associate Justice
A. Basse served as the 2022-2023 Executive Historian under the Shaw St. Mary. Administration. This role was heavily reliant on organization as they are tasked with the record keeping of the organization in its entirety. This will range from minutes, legislation, and any other public document as required per public record law. Furthermore, the position required knowledge of OneDrive, Google Drive, Digital Commons, and Website building.
Executive Historian
From April of 2021 to April 2022, A. Basse served as the Speaker of the LSU Student Sente. Similar to the Speaker of the House and the President of the Senate in the real legislature, the job includes running the branch and chairing over the Senate as a whole meetings each legislative week. The Speaker also serves as an ex-officio member of all committees within the legislative branch.
Speaker of the Senate
From November 2021 to April 2022, A. Basse served as the Speaker Pro Tempore of the LSU Student Senate. In this role, she acted as the Chair of the Committee on Rules and served as the Vice chair of the General meetings. The role also included knowledge of technology with sending weekly emails, configuring the Student Government OneDrive, and setting up the voting system for General Meetings.

INSPIRE Campaign
In the 2022-2023 school year, A. Basse served as a campaign advisor to the INSPIRE Presidential and Vice-Presidential Campaign. This grassroots campaign had the core values of amplification, commitment, inclusivity, intention, legacy, and resilience. A. Basse’s role included serving as a mentor to the candidates and staff as well as legal counsel on the election code.
SEC Exchange
In the summer of 2021, A. Basse attended the annual SEC Exchange in which all of the SEC schools send delegates to that years host school to interchange ideas. While attending the conference at University of Tennessee - Knoxville, A. Basse was able to share key components of LSU campus with other delegates.
Freshman Leadership Council
Every year, 1st year students at LSU apply to be accepted into the LSU Student Government Freshman Leadership Council (FLC). A. Basse served as a delegate in the 2019-2020 school year. FLC members are paired with older students who act as small group leaders. Through FLC, members develop and practice their understanding of leadership and community service. Each small group takes on a campus initiative which they spend the semester developing before presenting the project to their peers and administration. A. Basse’s small groups emphasis was on inner campus transportation and modification of LSU’s bus system.
A. Basse served as the Director of Communications for the Fall 2020 semester. Being completely virtual due to COVID, her tasks included most of the technology including but not limited to PowerPoints, operating the Zoom calls, and updating the LSU website.
